Volker Schlöndorff is a prolific German director of film, television and documentaries. At the forefront of the New German Cinema movement of the 1970s, alongside Werner Herzog and Wim Wenders, he has directed over 20 films which have been released worldwide. In 1979, he was awarded an Oscar and Palme d’Or for his film adaptation of the Nobel prize winning author, Gunter Grass’s novel, The Tin Drum. He lives and works in Berlin.
Alba Donati is a poet and literary critic. She has published numerous collections of poetry including the widely praised Non in mio nome, which, in 2004, was awarded both the Premio Pasolini and Premio Cassola. In 1995, she co-founded Davis & Franceschini which promotes and curates cultural events throughout Italy, with a particular focus on art, publishing and literary festivals. She has worked for Rai 3 and written for a variety of publications as a critic. She lives and works in Florence.
