Edward Docx is a British writer and novelist, born in Newcastle in 1972. The oldest of seven children, he is half Russian on his mother’s side.  Educated at The University of Cambridge, his writing has appeared in The Times, The Telegraph, Vogue and The Guardian, amongst other publications. His first book, The Calligrapher, inspired by one of Angelina Jolie’s tattoo, was published by Fourth Estate in 2004. His second novel, Self Help, was long-listed for the Man Booker Prize in 2007. His other works include The Devil’s Garden (2011) and Let Go My Hand (2017). His novels mix a contemporary style with a keen understanding of the literary canon. For the last 20 years, he has been based in London.
